about

Snapping Turtle Pond (Emilie Carroll)/ The Holly Bush (Finbarr Dwyer)/Dr. Gilbert’s Reel
Artists: Emilie Carroll, Neil Pearlman
Emilie: My solo is a combination of some of my favorite E-tunes. I wrote the strathspey inspired by an elusive snapping turtle at my grandparents’ house. The last two reels are the Holly Bush, a Finbarr Dwyer tune that I learned from Dylan at Catskills Irish Arts Week in 2016, and Dr. Gilberts, which I learned from Jeanne and is one of my favorites. I had a lot of fun in the studio recording this set with Neil Pearlman; it has quite the session vibe to it!
